The Errantry Room is one of the three largest room types in the lodge, at roughly 12 ping — even with four adults, it never feels cramped. It has two king-size beds, one of which folds out from a cypress-wood bench — that cypress wood is a beam salvaged from the old timber house that once stood here, and to this day you can still catch a faint hint of cypress fragrance while you sleep.
The Fantasy Room takes its inspiration from artist Chen Mei-Yen's work "Longing for Peach Blossom Spring" — a room filled with pink and ocean blue. A lot of parents traveling with daughters tell us their kids' eyes light up the moment they walk in.
Why choose a guesthouse over a chain family hotel for a trip with kids?
Chain family hotels often have slides and ball pits. If what you want is a full day of your kids running wild, those hotels really are a better fit.
Honestly, Errantry Lodge has no slide, no play equipment.
What we do have is a different kind of family time:
- Step out into the courtyard and you're at Biyun Villa, full of photo spots; the nearby community park and Tzu Chi campus give kids room to run freely, not a formal playground
- Free bicycles, so you can ride the mountain-side route together — surrounded by green rice paddies and vegetable plots, with the Central Mountain Range right beside you, it's one of the best family experiences around
- A room big enough to add a bed — being together as a family is what a trip should feel like
If you're after play equipment, we might not be the best fit.
But if what you want is time that truly belongs to your family, this is a good place for it.
Breakfast matters too, when traveling with kids
A child who refuses to eat breakfast is a pain point for a lot of parents.
Our reserved breakfast is made with about 80% organic ingredients. Since we take our own health seriously as a couple, what our guests eat is exactly what we eat ourselves — not a show meal put together just for business.
